Leon Tovar is a New York based gallery specializing in Modern art from Latin America. With more than 30 years of operation, the Gallery remains committed to promoting scholarship on, and the market visibility of, groundbreaking artists who are integral to any complete history of Modernism. As museums and other institutions work to reassess their collections and the histories that they tell, the Gallery’s mission is to continue responding to the urgent need for cultivating art historical narratives broader in scope.
Through regular exhibitions, exhibition programming, catalogues, art fairs, and collaborations with institutions, Leon Tovar Gallery has established itself as an authority in the field of Latin American art, and as a prominent resource for both new collectors and those seeking to refine their mature collections.
Inaugurated in Bogotá in 1991, and relocated to New York in 2002, the Gallery now operates an exhibition space in the Upper East Side. An ADAA Member gallery since 2019, Leon Tovar Gallery represents the Estates of Carmelo Arden Quin, Martin Blaszko, Marcelo Bonevardi, Agustín Fernández and Omar Rayo.
